No land and no compensation; at least give us permission for euthanasia, says Maharashtra farmers. According to reports, around 91 farmers from Buldhana district of Maharashtra have submitted a letter to the governor and Sub-Divisional Office (SDO) seeking permission for euthanasia.

The land has been acquired by the government for construction of a highway and lack of remunerative prices for crops and adequate compensation made our lives unbearable, revealed farmers in the letter.

The farmers further said that they are unable to feed their families and their helplessness is turning into despair. The letter was submitted just a few days after thousands of farmers led by All India Kisan Sabha marched in the streets of Mumbai demanding implementation of recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission and the Forest Rights Act.
