Agriculture Ministry determined to double farmers’ income by 2022, Union Minister for Agriculture
The Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh said that the Agriculture Ministry determined to double farmers’ income by 2022. The minister was speaking at the Valedictory function of the Krishi Unnati Mela 2018.
The methodology of good governance, new ideas and an improvement-oriented vision will also be implemented to accelerate the modernisation of farming, he added.
“To improve the financial status of farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kept a goal before the country of doubling farmers’ income by 2020. This is the first time that the Prime Minister has put a concrete goal of the welfare of farmers,” Singh said.
An inter-ministerial committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of CEO of National Rainfed Area Authority, Agriculture cooperatives and Farmers Welfare Department. This committee has been giving recommendations on various interventions and processes, which will be implemented through the state governments, he explained.
